Context

Georgio Kourtesios Scholarios was a prominent intellectual and theologian who lived during the first three quarters of the 15th century. He served as Ecumencial Patriarch of Constantinople with the ecclesiastical name Gennadius II in 1454-1464, during the early sultanate of Mehmed II. Among his numerous published works on diverse topics is his Introduction to Grammar, which largely summarizes the treatises of earlier scholars. In this passage, Gennadius cited the toponym Kaisareia as an example of words with the initial syllable kai.
