Jerome, Chronicle 181d-e

   https://caesarea-maritima.org/testimonia/274

Context

St. Jerome undertook to write a universal history of the world early in his illustrious career. His work translated and annotated the second half of Eusebius’ work, finished over a half century earlier, which was organized as a tabulated concordance of chronological schemes (χρονικοὶ κανόνες) ranging from Abraham to Constantine I; he continued Eusebius in the same format with his own historical compendium for the years 327-378 C.E. This passage from Jerome’s translation of Eusebius covers the end of Claudius’ reign, including events in the governorship of Judaea, which was headquartered in Caesarea, and in the life of St. Paul.

Year of the Romans Year of the Jews 208th Olympiad [53 C.E.] 13 (d) When Felix was procurator of Judaea, there are 9 many who deceived the people through the art of persuasion. Among them was a certain Egyptian false prophet who, attracting many followers to himself, is put down by the army of Felix for undertaking grand plans. Josephus writes in agreement with the Acts of the Apostles, where the tribune asks Paul, “Are you not the Egyptian who over these past days stirred up (a revolt) and led 4,000 men out into the desert?” [54 C.E.] 2070 14 (e) Claudius dies in the Palace at the age of 64. 10 2
