Unknown, Bordeaux Itinerary 600.1-6

Context
The earliest firsthand account of Christian pilgrimage that survives was
written by an unknown man from Bordeaux in southwestern France (Roman Burdigala)
who travelled overland to Syria and Palestine in 333-334 C.E. His account, which is
organized as a strict itinerary according to distances between sites, cites topographic
associations with the stories in the Hebrew and Christian bibles and recounts local
tradition. This passage maps the trip from Jersualem and north up the coast to
Caesarea.
