   https://caesarea-maritima.org/testimonia/140

Context

Among his many works, St. Jerome wrote a catalog of renowned thinkers of the Roman world during the first years after his move from Rome to Bethlehem. In mostly brief sketches he describes the intellectual achievements, particularly writings, of 135 men, many leaders in the early Church. He portrays five figures from Caesarea Maritima, including in this passage on Pamphilus, who lived during the late 3rd to beginning of the 4th century.

Translation

Acacius, whom they used to call the One-Eyed because he was blind in one eye, was bishop of the Church of Caesarea in Palestine. He wrote On Ecclesiastes in 17 volumes and Miscellaneous Questions in six, as well as many treatises on various subjects. He was so influential during the reign of the emperor Constantius that he made Felix bishop of Rome in place of Liberius. 2
